I had my first sip of Canvasback Coffee at a small business event at Zen & Pow Studio. I am not a black coffee drinker, so to be honest I was prepared to gulp down the cup and smile a polite thank you. However, their incredible Coldfront blend was the most delicious black coffee I have ever tasted in my life. I know it sounds dramatic, but I don’t think you’ll understand until you try it for yourself!! I was photographing the event at Zen & Pow when I grabbed the cup of coffee, and almost immediately I was back at Canvasback’s booth. I started chatting with Ethan, one of the owners, and he told me a bit about their brand and how they started.

This local coffee company has a heart for fresh roasted, small batch, insanely delicious, and conservation-minded coffee consumption. Ethan & Alexa, the owners of Canvasback Coffee, have worked for over two years meticulously crafting each blend. With coffee beans in hand, they have been bringing their booth to local events in the La Crosse Area, spreading the word about their online coffee company. As they gained traction, they realized they were in desperate need of photographs that were as amazing as the coffee itself. (I actually don’t think a photograph could be as good as real coffee- but I think we came close, haha!)

Alexa & Ethan had a clear vision for their branding photographs: bright, clean, and creative. Photographs that would be sure to grab your attention and make you feel like a second cup of coffee is definitely a necessity! I curated mood boards and a structure for our session that would include all of the photographs they would need. Typically, I capture branding sessions alone, but luckily I had Cody to help me with the planning and execution of this branding session! It was incredible to shoot for a brand we love so much, especially when it meant brewing and enjoying delicious coffee mid-session!!
