This day was years in the making. Katie and Kasten knew from the first date that this day would happen. Katie came home from their first date and told her best friend, “This is the man I’m going to marry.” Kasten’s kind personality and big dreams stuck out to Katie. I’m sure after that first date Kasten was dreaming of the day he would see Katie as his bride.

The trees swayed in the breeze in the ridge behind the podium. Kasten’s eyes welled with tears as Katie’s father walked her down the aisle. Katie later told me she could barely look at Kasten because she was afraid she would cry too! Kasten looked with a smile at his best friends and family standing beside him, remarking at how hard it was to look at Katie without crying.

“Who gives this woman to be married to this man?” Katie’s father needed a moment to compose himself before answering. He later spoke about how having a daughter was like having a heart break, because you know from the start that one day she will no longer be yours. As he took his time to let go of his daughter’s hand, I’m sure memories of Katie as a young girl were swirling in his head. He spoke the words, “Her mother and I do” and let go of his daughter’s hand. It was time for her and Kasten to start a new family.

Katie and Kasten were married at the Rustic Oaks venue at Emerald Ridge. This ceremony spot was unimaginably beautiful, which was so fitting for their wedding day. Every detail was chosen purposefully.

The pastor spoke about Katie and Kasten’s new roles as husband and wife. How they should look to serve each other, thinking of the other’s needs before their own. Family shared during speeches about how it was obvious to everyone that these two were meant to be married. They spoke about how admirable both Katie and Kasten are, and about how well they love those around them. I am confident their love will shine as an example to all.
