We noticed the fall colors that were just starting to peek out through all the green as we drove to Laura and Dusty’s wedding at the Barn on Stoney Hill in Cornell, Wisconsin. Tucked away in the rolling fields of Northern Wisconsin, this beautiful and unique barn venue stands out. The Barn on Stoney Hill features a private house where the bride and bridesmaids spent the morning getting their hair and makeup done while dancing and singing and sipping mimosas. Laura’s bridesmaids tried to hold back tears as she opened a gift from Dusty – an elegant diamond necklace that went so perfectly with her gown and hair piece. Everyone involved commented how that surprise gift was so like Dusty- his love and care for Laura is evident in all he does.
Laura and Dusty’s wedding ceremony was set up outside. With rustic wooden pews and an arbor complete with a backdrop of orange and red trees, this ceremony was complete fall perfection. As Dusty escorted his family members down the aisle, he was cracking little jokes the whole way, and the guests were chuckling as he passed by them. When Laura made her way down the aisle, you could feel their joy as they looked at each other filled with excitement to finally be at this moment on their wedding day when they’d say, “I do.” Their relationship is tender and sweet and it is so obvious they care deeply for one another.
With 16 members in their wedding party, it truly was a party. These friends and family members were all ready to dance, cheer, and laugh together celebrating their friends’ marriage. They were such a blast!
The maid of honor’s and best man’s speeches both spoke of the way Dusty and Laura care for each other so much. They made us laugh and they captivated us with pieces of their story. Laura’s dad said when she was young he knew it would take a special man to compliment Laura’s unique personality well. With pride and thankfulness in his eyes, as if recalling all the ways he saw Dusty love his daughter so well, he looked at him and said, “Dusty, you are that special man.” Cue all the happy tears!
