The Chicago skyline was showing off for this North Avenue Beach engagement session! Nathaniel and Christine celebrated their 5th anniversary of dating the weekend of their engagement session, isn’t that the sweetest? They met in Chicago while attending college and plan to live in the city when they are married, so Cody and I were thrilled to travel to the Lincoln Park and North Avenue Beach area of the city for their session.

Within moments of taking our first photos of Christine and Nathaniel at the Nature Boardwalk of Lincoln Park, Cody and I knew we were going to have a blast! Nathaniel and Christine have 5 years of dating history. This spans their time in college together to them both spending a summer studying and traveling in Spain, as well as long distance relationships in Washington, D.C. and Denver! Nathaniel and Christine were used to video calls and long distance dates before they were the norm for the rest of us! All of this history has made them incredibly close. You can tell how much spending time together means to them by how they act around each other.

I couldn’t help but notice how Christine’s eyes lit up when she looked at Nathaniel, and how Nathaniel couldn’t stop smiling widely at his future bride. After their engagement session, these two were sweet enough to treat us to Chicago deep dish pizza! While we were enjoying a picnic under the light of the night skyline, Christine asked Cody and I what we’ve learned in our first few years of marriage. Seeing as we have an entire podcast devoted to the topic, it was hard for us to stop talking once that question was asked…haha! I told them that I believe that you should never stop finding ways to have fun together.

Marriage is meant to be a partnership with your best friend. It is obvious that Christine and Nathaniel have already started creating solid foundations; ones that will grow a marriage that is truly beautiful. We cannot wait to celebrate with them as they become husband and wife this September at the Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau, Wisconsin!
