Many of our couples who are getting married in 2022 or 2023 have the shared experience of meeting their partner during the pandemic. Although I cannot imagine how challenging this must have been for them all, it has been so sweet to hear about their creativity during their dating phase and how they worked to make a relationship successful despite hardships. This is exactly the case for David and Liz!
They met online and chatted for a while before deciding to move forward and meet together in person. One of their first dates was mini-golfing, and since then they have spent a lot of time outside together! David is teaching Liz how to play tennis, and I can tell David has just the right spirit of patience and gentleness that would make him the best teacher! Another story that Liz and David shared with us was about one of their first dates which happened to land on Halloween. David convinced Liz to watch a scary movie, which wasn’t her typical choice. Later, she said that she was pretty sure he only chose the scary movie so that he could hold her hand 🙂

When they knew they were serious about getting married, Liz and David went to look at rings. Liz admitted she brought up the subject of the proposal many times, hinting she was very ready for it to happen! She told one of her friends what her ideal proposal consisted of: a sunset on a lake. Well, it just so happened that this friend messaged David through their company work system, and made sure he knew about what Liz was dreaming of.

On a trip to a cabin by a lake with a bunch of their friends, Liz and David watched the sunset on a Friday night…and nothing happened. This was when Liz started to doubt that the proposal might be happening on this trip. Saturday night came and Liz and David again were watching the sunset. This time, David asked if she’d like to walk a little further down to see the sunset. During this walk, Liz explained to me that David did not say a word. She was really thinking that the proposal wasn’t going to happen now. David says he was quiet to build suspense because he knew she’d been expecting it to happen! Finally, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him!

We cannot wait to celebrate with Liz and David as they say “I do!” in April! Enjoy our favorites from this winter engagement session in downtown Madison, Wisconsin!
