As another year of weddings has come to a close, and the next season is already upon us with inquiries and engagement sessions, I wanted to devote time to a 2021 Wedding Review. So often in our world we move on from one thing to the next; without giving ourselves much time to reflect or find purpose in all that we have gone through. I am hoping this post can become a yearly tradition, and I look forward to how beautiful it will be to look back on all of the memories that were captured!
2021 brought us the most incredible couples. I know it is cliche to say it, but honestly I cannot believe how blessed Cody and I are having worked with each one of these couples and their families. We captured weddings in the La Crosse area, in Madison, Oshkosh, Wausau, and Eau Claire! This was a year of record breaking weather- with wildly high heat indexes and the most rainfall seen in the La Crosse area in history. Despite weather challenges, the ongoing pandemic, vendor shortages, and last minute changes of plans, our couples made it through and each had a uniquely beautiful wedding day. As I look back upon their galleries of images, I am reminded that these photographs only tell a piece of their stories. As wedding photographers, we have the privilege of walking with our couples throughout their season of engagement and wedding planning. We understand the hours they poured into wedding decisions, the hardships they faced along the way, and the commitment to joy that they made even when things seemed impossible.
Cody and I have a mission as wedding photographers; not only do we want to capture impeccable images that our couples will cherish, but we also want our couples to have a marriage that is even more beautiful than their wedding day. It is easy to focus on the wedding day as a climax of the story, as the most beautiful part of a couple’s life together. However, as I look at these images now that the year has ended, I see only the beginning, only one piece of the couple’s story. I know that each one of these amazing couples has grown since their wedding day. They’ve welcomed new members to their families, they’ve moved to new cities or purchased homes, they have created new routines as husband and wife. Since their wedding days, they have continued to make the conscious choice to love each other, for better or worse. And that to me is more beautiful than any photograph we could capture!
Overall, when reviewing our 2021 wedding galleries, I am overcome with a sense of gratefulness. I never want to lose sight of the fact that Cody and I are welcomed into families as they celebrate such meaningful moments together. We are incredibly thankful to each and every one of our couples who trusted us to capture their wedding: Elizabeth & Nick, Megan & Sebastian, Jennelle & Derrick, Sarah & Luke, Brittany & Nathan, Emily & Bryce, Laura & Nathan, Christine & Nathaniel, Izzy & Matthew, and Natalie & Tyler. Enjoy our highlights from our 2021 Wedding Review!
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of our couples, their family, and their friends. Cody and I are honored to be welcomed in to your celebrations, and we do not take our jobs lightly. Looking back on these photos all together gives me such an overwhelming sense of gratitude and love! To our 2022 couples…we cannot wait for what is to come!!
