Sara’s dad spoke with a slight waver in his voice at The Howard. Sara and Evan looked up at him with serious but joyful eyes on their wedding day. Their story was being told, from the beginning. All the way back to meeting in high school and competing over who would have the best GPA. Fast forward to a few years later, when Evan knew he wanted to date Sara and asked for her dad’s permission. Much like he would ask him for her hand in marriage years after that.
Listening to this story, sniffles could be heard around the room. Mothers wiped tears from their eyes. Friends and family looked upon them with loving hearts. Let’s be honest, my eyes were blurring behind the camera lens as I choked up as well, 😉 Sara and Evan have a story filled with such intention, it is hard not to be moved by it.
So they met in high school. But as Sara’s dad shared, Sara “lovingly” referred to him as “that boy!” That boy who was stealing her fought out place of top of the class. When you first meet Sara and Evan, their joy and kindness stands out first. But take just a few more minutes to get to know them and you will learn how driven and hard working they are as well. First they met as enemies, but over time they began to see each other as more like friends. Evan knew that Sara was someone he would like to know better, so he purposefully went to her father first to discuss taking Sara out. I find this so intentional and sweet, it was as if he knew then that Sara was the one that he wanted to spend forever with!
Sara and Evan dated throughout their college experience, having study dates at coffee shops. On a visit to Florida to see Sara’s family, Evan approached Sara’s dad for the second time. The family had already made their plans of exactly how the proposal would happen and how they would surprise Sara, again with the intentionality!! Evan asked, and of course Sara said yes, and they began planning their wedding day!
We first met Sara and Evan in person for their Madison engagement session. Cody and I could not believe how much fun we had with them both. Sara was so sweet and remembered a lot of details that we had shared with her about ourselves. Thanks to social media it felt like we had already known each other for years! These two are so down to earth and kind, their session was one of our favorites to date!!
Just as their story is full of purpose and intention, each and every detail of their wedding day was thought out and planned for a reason. Sara’s details were the dreamiest. Evan’s groomsmen were the most fun bunch of guys while the bridesmaid’s were sweet as can be. The Paine Art Center was like a winter wonderland after snow had freshly fallen. Their wedding ceremony at the Howard was focused on Christ and His love for all of us. The reception was filled with good food, conversations, and dancing. I am still blown away by how gorgeous each and every moment was!
Enjoy our favorite images from this beautiful wedding celebration!
